“Marginalia in Manichaean and Christian Manuscript Cultures”
Manuscript Studies have amply demonstrated how annotations in the margins made by users of manuscripts are a very useful tool for reconstructing aspects of their intellectual history such as educational and training processes. The paper will discuss how, in the (quasi) absence of external evidence, marginalia in the Manichean and Christian manuscript traditions may be used for a history of monastic education.
